Returning to strength training after pregnancy

A careful, non-prescriptive guide to returning to training after pregnancy, with emphasis on gradual progress and individual support. Returning to training after pregnancy is not a race back to an old routine. It is a process of learning what your body can manage now, then building from there with appropriate professional guidance.

About the trainer

Start with clearance and context

Your healthcare professional can advise when and how to resume exercise for your circumstances. A coach can then help translate that context into manageable training choices; coaching does not replace medical care.

Use gradual progress

Begin with movements and volumes that feel appropriate, pay attention to how you respond during and after sessions, and adjust rather than forcing a fixed timeline.

Sleep, feeding, work and childcare all affect what consistency looks like. A good plan accounts for that reality.

Choose support that respects the season
